I love running & stilettos.
So why not do a race in stilettos?
When Glamour Magazine announced the Stiletto Run with €10,000 shopping spree prize, I signed up immediately!! There were qualifying runs in different locations within Holland and Belgium. All participants were required to wear stilettos (9cm hign and 1.5 cm wide). I ran my qualifying run along the Antwerpen Harbor. It wasn't easy running over those cobblestones, but I made it!! All the girls had to run from the starting line directly into 1 of the 3 limos. The winners then drove off to Amsterdam for the final run on the P.C. Hoofdstraat.
Once we were in Amsterdam we stopped for some fries and drew a number for our starting positions.
I wasn't so lucky with the draw. I started out toward the back.. line 7 of 13. All of the girls were required to run with the latest issue of Glamour in hand. Again, very funny. Competition was FIERCE for the final run. There was a bit of pushing and shoving. Some girls fell. Ouch!
Overall it was a positive experience and a fun way to combine sports with fashion. Cities such as Moscow, Mexico City, Berlin, Malmo, Helsinki, Stockholm, Budapest and of course Amsterdam participated in this event.
